Review: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer

Review: Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer

The Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer (£24.50 for 8 g) is one of the most famous bronzers in my world as I always hear everyone talk about it. The brand, Benefit Cosmetics, now offers the bronzer in two shades; the original shade and a lighter one (Hoola Lite).

On their website they state that the bronzer
gives you a natural looking tan
is great for contouring
is matte

I really enjoy the texture of this powder as it is very soft and blends really easy and nice into the skin. It looks very beautiful og natural on the skin, so if you are new to makeup or are looking for a bronzer you can count on then I would definitely recommend looking into this one! I see that this powder would be good for contouring if you have a fair or light skintone but I don’t think you will get a noticeable contour if you have a medium or dark skintone. I use this if I want a soft contour or only want to bronze up my face a bit if I am going for a natural makeup look. This makes me wonder why they made a Hoola Lite and not a darker version of the Hoola bronzer. I went to Sephora and swatched the two next to each other as I was in doubt if the Hoola Lite would be the match for me. But even though I am fair I still don’t think the Hoola Lite would be dark enough for me to use as a bronzer without using the entire pan to get the payoff I am looking for. I think you with the original Hoola bronzer are able to use it if you have a fair to light skintone if you only use a little amount of product and then build it up to the desired intensity.

I will award this bronzer 4 hearts out of 5 possible!

I do really like this bronzer! It is everything I could ask for! But I don’t understand why you would release an even lighter shade and not a darker shade. That is what bugs me. I hope they are in the process of making a Hoola Dark. Have you tried the Hoola Matte Bronzer from Benefit Cosmetics? If you have, then let me know your opinion in the comments! Do you think they should make a darker shade?

  1. I’ve wanted to get this bronzer for years!!! Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to try it yet. I use theBalm’s Bahama Mama bronzer which is very similar in my opinion. I think it is also a slightly darker so it may be suited for you.

    Thanks for sharing!
