I came up with an idea of making a series of Harry Potter inspired makeup looks. I have never seen this done before and I am so excited to get started! I want to be inspired by both characters, animals, the houses and maybe even events? The universe of Harry Potter has always meant a great deal to me which is why I think this should be the first series I do on my blog – I have a lot of other makeup series in mind 😉 So why not start this series off with a makeup look inspired by the man himself? Keep on reading if you want to see how Harry Potter inspired me to create this makeup look.

As you can see on the finished look above, I used black, green, and red. If you know Harry Potter then I am sure you know why I chose these colours, but I would like to explain it as well for the readers that haven’t watched or read Harry Potter yet 😉 The reason I chose black is because he has black hair, I chose green because of his green eyes, and at last I choose red because of his scar. The black eyeshadow looked way darker in real life, and for some reason, it looks kind of blue? I don’t know why but my camera translates my shadows really strange…

I started off by priming my eyelids with the MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the shade Soft Ochre and used some translucent setting powder to set it. I started out with the black shadow. I used the shade Incognito from Coastal Scents and layed it down where I wanted it with the Pointed Blender Brush from Coastal Scents. To blend out the edges of Incognito, I used the Crease Blender Brush from Coastal Scents and dipped it into the shade Ash Grey from Coastal Scents to help the black shadow blend.

I wanted to create a spotlight cut crease which I used the Small Foundation Concealer Brush from Coastal Scents for with some Dermacol Foundation (I buy mine off eBay, but any full coverage concealer will do). After I have cut the crease I used some translucent powder to set the concealer/foundation to make sure it didn’t transfer. I then went to do the undereye shadow where I layed down some of the shade Incognito with the Accent Brush from Real Techniques for precision and then blended it out with a clean Pointed Blender Brush dipped into Ash Grey.

I wanted the spotlight cut crease to be green to resemble his eyes looking out through his hair. But before I applied the green shadow, I wanted to complete the eyeliner. I wanted to create some kind of a winged eyeliner with a lightening at the end instead of the wing. I used the Jeffree Star Cosmetics x MannyMUA Velour Liquid Lipstick in the shade I’m Shook as my liner as it had the perfect colour! I cleaned a wand from an NYX Cosmetics Eyeliner as I needed a thin brush to do the work. Just take your time when doing the lightning and try to imagine it in your head before doing it and draw it in the air. Then I applied some of the shadow Balsam from Coastal Scents with the Pointed Detail Brush from Coastal Scents which I wetted with some setting spray. I blended out the edges of Balsam with the Pointed Blender Brush dipped into Ash Gray. If you got some of the Balsam shadow onto your red liner, then just paint it over.

Then I finished up my makeup! I applied some of the Lancôme Le Crayon Khol Eye Liner (*) in black on my upper and lower waterline. Then I curled my lashes with the Eylure Heated Eyelash Curler (*) and applied some of the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara to my lashes. For my brows, I used the NYX Cosmetics Tame & Frame Brow Pomade in the shades Brunette and Blonde and used the NYX Cosmetics Control Freak Eyebrow Gel to keep them in place. For my highlight, I used the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade Golden Lights (*).

When doing a “heavy” eyeshadow look like this one, I think it is important to weight out the rest of your face as well which is why I always contour and bronze my face when doing this kind of look. If you are new to makeup and are looking for a great contour kit, then I would recommend you take a look at THIS BLOG POST by Elle who blogs at labeaute.org where she gives you 5 great examples of contour kits. Be sure to check her out as she has some top quality content on her blog!

I hope you enjoyed this makeup looked and are just as excited about this new series as I am! If you have any questions, then don’t be afraid to ask them in the comments! Let me know who your favourite character from Harry Potter is, I have two; Dumbledore and Snape! I hope to see you back soon xx
