This is my third makeup look in my Harry Potter Inspired Makeup Series. I think these looks are so fun to create as the colours that inspire me often is something I don’t normally would go to. Like in this look where I chose to let Ron Weasley inspire me. Ron became best friends with Harry Potter in their first year at Hogwarts. Ron’s entire family is known for their red hair which inspired me to use the orange shade. Ron also has blue eyes, hence the blue shades in my makeup look.
Before I started playing with any eyeshadow, I primed my lids with my trusty MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the shade Soft Ochre and used a translucent powder to set it. For this makeup look, I wanted to make a blue crease and use an orange shadow all over the lid. For some extra drama, I wanted to apply a blue, winged eyeliner as well. I started off this look by applying some of the blue shadow Electric Blue from Coastal Scents (which I can’t find on their website.. I don’t know if they have had a clear out as this is not the first shade I can’t find). I used the Pointed Blender Brush from Coastal Scents to apply the shadow. I knew I wanted to do a cut crease, so I layed down the blue shadow in somewhat the shape I wanted. I then blended out the Electric Blue shadow using the same brush but dipped it into the light blue Cornflower Blue from Coastal Scents (which I again can’t find…) and used small, circular motions.
The next step was to cut the crease! I here used the Dermacol Foundation (I bought mine off eBay) and the Small Foundation Concealer Brush from Coastal Scents. When I had cut the crease, I made sure to set the foundation I had used with powder so it would not transfer anywhere. I then applied the orange shade Orange Crush from Coastal Scents (couldn’t be found either…) on my lid using the Accent Brush from Real Techniques. I used this small brush for precision. Next, I used the NYX Cosmetics Vivid Brights Eyeliner (*) in the shade Sapphire for my winged eyeliner. I have only used this liner for small details on my winged liner before and have not used it for an entire wing until now. If you don’t have a blue eyeliner, then I wouldn’t recommend this one as it is very flaky! I had the same issue with their white eyeliner. You can make it work though. After I made the wing I used some of my Dermacol Foundation (which I use as concealer) to clean up under the wing.
With the Accent Brush from Real Techniques, I layed down some of the shade Electric Blue under my eyes and used the Pointed Blender Brush dipped into Cornflower Blue to blend it out. Then, I finished up my makeup! I used the Tony Moly Easy Touch Auto Eye Brow in the shade Brown for my brows and used the NYX Cosmetics Control Freak Eyebrow Gel to keep them in place. I curled my lashes with the Eylure Heated Eyelash Curler (*) and applied some of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (*) to my lashes and added a couple of the Eylure Individual Lashes (*) to the outer part of my lashes. I highlighted my inner corner with the shade Golden Dawn from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit (*) and I used the shade White Sand from the same kit to highlight my brow bones and my cheekbones.
I hope you enjoyed this makeup look as I really enjoyed creating it! I think these colours really pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me experiment a bit more. I hope to see you back soon! xxx
