HARRY POTTER MAKEUP SERIES: HERMIONE GRANGER INSPIRED MAKEUP LOOK

HARRY POTTER MAKEUP SERIES: HERMIONE GRANGER INSPIRED MAKEUP LOOK

I have finally created a Hermione Granger inspired makeup look to add to my Harry Potter Makeup Series! If you do not know who Hermione is, then you might not know that much about the Harry Potter universe. But you might know that Harry (see my Harry Potter inspired makeup look HERE) has two best friends; a redhead male friend named Ron Weasley (see my Ron Weasley inspired makeup look HERE) and a female friend named Hermione Granger. I create these makeup looks based on what characterizes the person/animal, like red hair, a scar or something like that. Hermione has brown hair and brown eyes, so I definitely need to include brown. But I do not want to do something all brown, that might not be that exciting to see. I, therefore, wanted to include some yellow and red as she is a Gryffindor (see my Gryffindor inspired makeup look HERE). And again, if you do not know what Gryffindor is, then it is one of the four houses at Hogwarts (the school) which has yellow and red as their colors. Okay, I think that is enough explanation of my thoughts behind this look.

I started out by priming my lids with the MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the shade Soft Ochre and used some translucent powder to set it. I then used the Classic Crease Blender Brush from Coastal Scents to blend out the eyeshadow “Punch Me” from the Morphe x James Charles Artistry Eyeshadow Palette. To darken up the crease, I used the Classic Pointed Blender Brush from Coastal Scents to lay down some of the eyeshadow “Benny” from the Morphe x James Charles Artistry Eyeshadow Palette. To blend out the edges of “Benny” I used the same Classic Crease Blender Brush as previously.

To cut the crease, I used the Dermacol Make-Up Cover Foundation and the Classic Small Foundation Concealer Brush from Coastal Scents. I used the white eyeshadow “Flashback” from the Morphe x James Charles Artistry Eyeshadow Palette to set the cut crease. And now for the “fun” part hahaha. I was inspired to do this kind of eyeliner by the talented Lucy who is known as @lsgmakeup on Instagram. I swear, she makes it look easy. I started out by drawing on the yellow eyeliner. For the yellow eyeliner, I used the NYX Cosmetics Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Halo. I did not use the applicator it comes with as I prefer one of my own liner brushes (which I got from a craft store) as I can hold on the handle of the brush where ever I want which I cannot do with the NYX eyeliner as over half of the applicator is covered in product. To make sure that the yellow blends nicely into the red eyeliner, I mixed the yellow NYX Cosmetics Vivid Brights Eyeliner in “Halo” with the orange one in “Delight”. The reason why I did not just use the orange eyeliner by itself is that I thought it was a bit too dark. For the red eyeliner, I used the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in “I’m Shook”. To clean up the eyeliner, I just used some concealer.

In the blank space where a winged eyeliner normally would be filled in, I wanted to apply some shimmer shadows. In the inner part of the blank space, I applied some of the light gold eyeshadow “Ring Light” and on the outer part, I applied some of the gold eyeshadow “Wig”, both from the Morphe x James Charles Artistry Eyeshadow Palette. To make sure they stayed put, I applied down some lash glue to the blank space before applying the shadows. Looking at the pictures of the makeup look, I now wished I had only used the dark gold eyeshadow.

To tie the look together, I applied both the eyeshadow “Punch Me” and “Benny” underneath my eyes. I used the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in “Golden Light” (*) to highlight underneath my brows and in my inner corner. To finish up the look, I applied the Eylure Lashes in 117 (*, **) and used the MAC Cosmetics In Extreme Dimension Mascara to blend my lashes and the false lashes together.

And there you have it! This is how I created this look – I hope you liked it! I am only going to create four more makeup looks in this Harry Potter Inspired Makeup Series before starting another series. Let me know in the comments if you have something particular you want to see in my upcoming series! Thank you so much for reading, I hope to see you back soon! xx
